I treat wrought iron with particular care due to its high carbon content and clearly distinguish between cast iron and modern steel. In addition, I inspect and repair structural steel I-beams, often concealed within facades and combined with decorative cast-iron elements such as facade flowers.
Cleaning brick facades using the right techniques, whether it’s red or yellow brick or any other type. When needed, I repair damaged joints or surface layers, always aiming to preserve the original character of the masonry.
Restoring, repairing, or replacing bluestone elements is a key expertise. This includes structural pieces like balcony slabs and I-beam supports, as well as decorative cornices, doorsteps, and plinths. I work with specialist workshops to have new elements cast from original moulds when needed.
Wooden corniches and details often suffer from weather exposure and wood rot. I strip back old paint, repair or remake damaged parts, and preserve their original profiles – including hand carved or 3D shaped elements. This also includes experience with restoring timber bay windows (erkers), which are highly exposed and often need structural repair and sealing.
Some projects include glass features – plain, painted or patterned – in harmony with the rest of the facade.
